Resolution No. 2175.11- Authorizing and Approving a Joint Participation Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation.  

Recommendation:

It is recommended that the Town Council adopt the attached Resolution No. 2175.11 as presented.   

Background:

It is with great pleasure that I recommend to you that we enter into a Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreement with the Florida Department of Transpiration (FDOT) for the Replacement of the Strand Bridge. We have been working vigorously to secure the necessary resources to replace the Strand Bridge since the later part of 2007. We have sent endless letters, held hundreds of hours in meetings and countless phone calls to any and all possible agencies or elected officials who can assist the Town in this effort.

The LAP Agreement provides $5,939,750 of which $5,165,000 is set aside for construction and $774,750 is set-aside for Construction Engineering and Inspection. The LAP Agreement asks that the Town perform all aspects from design, bidding, construction, inspection and certification of the Strand Bridge on behalf of FDOT. This is similar to the JPA we executed for the installation of the sidewalk on Ocean Boulevard.  

Entering into this LAP Agreement is one of the greatest accomplishments we have had since my appointment as your Manager.

Fiscal Impact:
$5,939,750 provided by FDOT for the Replacement of the Strand Bridge
