Officers assigned to bicycle patrol must take and complete a police bicycle course administered by a certified instructor. The bicycle patrol officers offer greater mobility, are highly visible and increases the opportunity for interaction with the community. Bike patrol officers supplement road patrol officers in areas around the Town that are difficult to patrol in motor vehicles and increase the visibility of police officers in our parks and the pavilion beach area.

The bicycle patrol officer establishes more personalized contact with the community otherwise not afforded from a police vehicle. The bicycle patrol officer’s goal is to be a role model and build strong relationships, especially with the children.
